Push and pull incentives in Switzerland: On 17. November 2025 the Social Security and Health Commission of the Council of States (SGK-S) voted in favour of starting discussion of the revised Epidemics Act (rev EpidA). During the Commission's hearing the RTA reiterated the relevance of the new "push" and "pull" articles in lowering hurdles of antibiotic R&D (article 50a) and incentivizing access of patients in Switzerland to badly needed antibiotics (article 51a).
Implementing a subscription incentive for eligible antibiotics in Switzerland: According to rev EpidA, article 51a, subscription incentives should benefit antibiotics addressing an unmet medical need in treating bacterial infections in Switzerland, and their causative resistant pathogens. To identify these needs and their causative pathogens the RTA convened a group of renowned infectious diseases clinicians and science experts. The outcome of the project work will be published in early 2026.
